Take a Spring Break from Cooking

It’s bluebonnet season–  time to drop everything and spend some time outdoors before the heat of summer sets in! Whether you’re planning a picnic this weekend or just looking to save some time in the kitchen, these no-cook recipes are just thing to celebrate spring.

When in doubt, make a salad! Raw salads like this Sunny Afternoon Slaw use spring’s best veggies, and they come together in a snap.

Amp up a regular peanut butter and jelly sandwich with shredded carrots. Mix together 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup finely shredded carrots, and 1 tablespoon orange marmalade or jam for healthier version of the favorite sandwich filling.

Add some local hummus, tabouleh, dolmas and olives to your next Greenling order. Use these ready-made dishes to create a Mezze Platter in minutes.

There’s nothing cheesy about craving a good wedge of Cheddar. Toss some slices of your favorite cheese on a cutting board, along with some nuts, fresh fruit, olives, and a swirl of local honey for a sophisticated and satisfying picnic.

Whatever your plans this weekend, we hope you take advantage of spring’s bountiful fresh vegetables and fruits! These beauties are at the height of their season, and they’re worth savoring before time runs out.
