Boo! I’m all a fright over this weeks Local Box, and while I’m not busy keeping the zombies at bay and the witches away I’ll be brewing up some tricks and treats in the kitchen. Grab your cauldron and let’s cook.
salsa– Fall is a great time for festivals. Music festivals, Harvest Festivals, and even Purple Hull Pea Festivals. Yep, that’s right, that little purple hull pea in your box has a whole festivals dedicated to it. Try this reci-pea for Purple Hull Pea Caviar I found from the Purple Hull Pea Festival in Emerson, Arkansas. It’s an award winning recipe!
salad– I have grown fond of pickling… everything. This Kale Salad with Quick-Pickled Watermelon Radish is divine and a great way to get your feet wet with some quick pickling. Great tasting and b-e-a-utiful!
sandwich– It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 95, grilled cheese sandwiches are groovy. Now that I’m an “adult” I like to snaz my sammies up with recipes like this Asian Pear and Gouda Grilled Cheese. Add microgreens or arugula for extra greenery.
squash– Were you graced with butternut squash or acorn squash in your box this week? This recipe will work for either. Baked Butternut Squash and Acorn Squash is a simple yet delicious fall side.
sip– I’m going to put these marrs oranges to good use by making some fresh squeezed juice. Adults, if you want to take it to the next level try this Orange Rum Punch recipe. Great for entertaining at your next backyard gathering.
side– You can never go wrong with a wedge, potato wedge that is. From sweet potatoes to red potatoes they all work with a million and one ways to season. Roasted Dill Potato Wadges will taste great with fresh dill and your favorite dipping sauce.
