[AUSTIN] Green Garden Day

Dust off your old blue jeans, put on a baseball cap and join us for a Saturday morning in the garden! We’re holding gardening days this spring to spruce up exhibit gardens used for youth education programs. Help us pull out the old, plant the new. You’ll learn about central Texas native plants and their importance to our Texas waters AND get a tour of the riverside Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education. Perfect for kiddos, corporate groups or anyone who doesn’t mind gettin’ dirty! Breakfast, garden gear, and good conversation provided. Green thumb not required!

[AUSTIN] Slow Food Slow Session – The Buzz Mill

At this Slow Session, we will hear from a panel of some of Austin’s finest coffee sourcers and roasters about purveying fair trade coffee. Led by Travis Kizer of Bootleg Coffee and The Buzz Mill, the panel will include Jess Haynie of Austin Coffee Roasters, Mauricio Bustamante of Bleu Cargo, and Jeffrey Lorien of Zhi Tea providing a complementary perspective.Coffee samples provided by The Buzz Mill and food and drink provided by Slow Food Austin!

[AUSTIN] Fifth Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour

The Funky Chicken Coop Tour, founded in 2009, is an annual self guided tour held each spring in Austin, Texas, by the nonprofit organization Urban Poultry Association of Texas, Inc. Each year the FCCT strives to showcase an array of coops that display a variety of construction designs and materials, from recycled to custom designed coops, including production hens to exotic chickens and roosters. Check out the coops by foot or try the guided bike tour. Don’t forget to say hi to Greenling!

[SAN ANTONIO] Paws in the Park

Come one, come all, come dogs! Visitors have the opportunity to experience an energizing day walking through the San Antonio Botanical Gardens with their favorite dog, while also supporting local animal friendly charities.

She spent her early years joyfully baking and cooking and soon realized her favorite part about food was sharing it. She has stayed active in the local food movement from volunteering with non-profits to supporting local farms to getting her hands dirty building community gardens.
